Hereabouts helps you find neighbourhoods that match your lifestyle by showing where your chosen amenities overlap.
Set an anchor point — a university, workplace, or any address — and a search radius. Toggle the amenity types you care about. Hereabouts searches OpenStreetMap for those amenities near your anchor and draws a hex grid showing coverage.
Darker hexagons indicate locations where more of your selected amenities are within walking distance. The darkest areas are the best candidates for where to live.
Each hexagon is scored by how many of your selected amenity types have at least one location within your walk radius. Scores are weighted by the importance you assign each amenity. Use the Hex sensitivity slider to control how many amenities are needed to fully darken the map.
The hex grid extends beyond the search radius — an amenity found at the edge of your search circle can still provide coverage further out.
Walk radius — how far you're willing to walk to reach that amenity type. Adjust per amenity.
Importance — Low, Med, or High weighting for each amenity's contribution to the coverage score.
Search radius — how far from the anchor to look for amenities. Changing this or the anchor will prompt a new search.
Save / Load profile — export your amenity list as a JSON file and reload it later or share it.
Amenity locations come from OpenStreetMap via the Overpass API. Results are cached for 24 hours. Coverage and completeness vary by city.
